Directions to Northbrook: Regional Map
- From Syracuse - Watertown area (west):
Take Exit #48 off of Rte. 81 to Fort Drum. Turn right onto Rte. 342 for about 8 miles to intersection of Rte. 11 & Rte. 3. You can take either route, but I prefer Rte. 11 throught Gouverneur, Canton & Potsdam. In Potsdam, pick-up Rte. 11B to Nicholville (East) where you take a right-hand turn on Rte. 458 to St. Regis Falls & Santa Clara and thence to its end at Rte. 30. Turn right onto Rte. 30 towards Paul Smiths. After about 10 miles, you will come to Paul Smith's College and a "T" intersection. Turn left onto Rte. 86 toward Saranac Lake. You will see a sign for Northbrook Lodge about a mile past the College. Follow directions into the Lodge itself. Rt. 3 thru Tupper Lake to Rte. 30 North to Rte. 86 East is an alternate route. - From the Metropolitan New York area (south):
Take NY Thruway to Albany, NY, get off at Exit 24. Take the Adirondack Northway (#87) North to Exit 30. Take Rte. 73 to the Lake Placid area where you pick up Rte. 86. Lake PLacid village can be avoided by taking bypass to the left at the "V" after the Olympic ski jumb complex & across from the horse show complex. Go through Saranac Lake and continue on Rte. 86 for about 12 miles until you reach our sign on the right. Turn right and follow our directional signs into our grounds. If you have an old map, it may show Rte. 86 becoming Rte. 192 about 4 miles North of Saranac Lake. The State recently dropped the 192 designation and extended Rte. 86 until it joins Rte. 30 at Paul Smith's College, which is a half-mile past the Northbrook turnoff.
